Of course you've heard that it's important to have an attitude of grattitude, but in today's real estate market it can be kind of tough if you're on the buying side. For most of the year, seller's have enjoyed multiple offers and quick turnarounds when it comes to selling their homes. I've helped buyers write numerous contracts on different properties and watched them get discouraged when their offers weren't accepted. It can be hard to be thankful during this process. An attitude of gratitude, especially when something doesn't seem to be working out, can help turn the whole situation around. Studies show that if you express gratitude, it raises your happiness by 25%. This is particularly important for our emotional health.

“If you concentrate on what you have, you’ll always have more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you’ll never have enough.” ~Lewis Howes

Whether you're in the middle of searching for your happy place or selling the one you have, use these tips to help you keep a positive attitude.

Tips for Having an Attitude of Gratitude

  1. Keep a Gratitude Journal - Find a notebook and write down three things you're thankful for everyday. No matter what they are, big or small, the act of find something to appreciate will help increase your happiness.
  2. Express Your Gratitude - Find ways to express gratitude to others like writing thank you notes, text messages, or making it a point to verbally tell someone thank you for something they've done.
  3. Take Time to Celebrate Each Day - We generally only celebrate big wins, but it's important to celebrate soemthing every day. This will help you focus on finding things to be happy about which will help you keep a positive outlook.

Taking time to focus on being happy and finding things to be grateful for can really impact your life in a positive way. It will also impact your search for your happy place.
